If there was one painting and artist to take away from art history it's Bosch. This is one fascinating dude. Not a lot is known about him but his one work of art (a triptych) 'The Garden of Earthly Delights' is still one of the most wacky, amazing, creepy paintings in the known world. Exhibit A:
These scenes are from the last panel depicting Hell. He really is the first fantasy artist. Painted in the sixteenth century, I really have to wonder what was going through his head? How did he come up with these fantastical creatures? So bizarre, so imaginative, so awesome.
Even though he was trying to scare the crap out of sinners to behave he came up with one of the most amazing works of art, ever.
