Happy SUPER birthday to me and being an adult and still playing with toys. See? this is my birthday present to me, sadly these little Tokidoki toys are kind of expensive. the little milk bottles are ten bucks a piece (and i ended up with two of the same, it drives me crazy. that's why i HATE 'blind' boxes. stupid marketing strategies) oh well, here's to another year older.

yay, for art weekends! where i have nothing better to do then to draw strange cute things. the scanner dislikes pencil for some reason. the colored pencil dolls are actually a lot more colorful (and actually have skin tone, it just doesn't show here) i stuck to traditional japanese kimono designs but some day will gather my wits to create something NEW and MONSTROUS...and cute..possibly. DIE BY CUTE!!

i found this book at a second hand store the other day and bought it for a dollar. i like buying different comics to get ideas for art and to see other kinds of styles. i've never heard of Laya the Witch of Red Pooh (and for God's sake, with a name like Red Pooh who would buy it anyway?) but as i flipped through it i liked the unique style she has. lookie. the story makes pretty much no sense whatsoever but its fun to look at. it reminds me (just a little bit) of Junko Mizuno (the two weird fairy things there)

i've gots lots of ideas and sooo little time. wouldn't it be awesome to build your own Kokeshi doll? what paint would you use, i wonder? oil? acrylic? i'm going to buy a book of textile patterns next and make an ARMY of kokeshi dolls.

here's how you ruin a perfectly good picture; use ink markers and stop the line in the middle of the face so half of it dries and LEAVES A FREAKING LINE. how depressing. i'm going to draw some more and use pencil.
