I think i'm the only person on this entire blog who knows who Elizabeth Peters is. She writes wonderful mysteries but my favorite is the Amelia Peabody mysteries which have to do with Victorian times and Egyptology. She's kinda like Indiana Jones but cooler. So i thought as an excellent practice for comics (because i suck at them) it would be fun to illustrate a part from her first book. So! This is Amelia along with the head sketches from the last post. Next is Emerson which should be interesting because i have even less experience drawing men.

It occured to me that even though i like drawing people a lot i don't really have a lot of experience drawing facial expressions. strange eh? all these years and i basically draw the same thing. well, no more! i'm drawing lots now and even if i don't go into comics i would like to have more experience with them. so here are some expressions for Amelia Peabody from Elizabeth Peters mystery series. i'm going to do a short comic from an excerpt from her first book 'The Crocodile on the Sandbank'. which, by the way, is one great book.

See, i have an idea. i was flipping through a travel magazine and in one of the articles there was a beeeUUUtiful old picture of flamenco dancers in Seville from 1930 and i thought; oh, i wanna draw that. these are the first sketches. pardon the crappiness but these were seriously done in about 30 seconds. there is one more dancer i want to draw too. So! there will be pretty flamenco dancers (two!) men in white tuxes playing instruments and one really cool looking waiter.

this is the logo i dreamed up for the anime club, dunno if it will actually be used. too bad cuz' it took a long time to ink the stupid think in - me being practically computer illiterate and all i rely on good old pen and ink. maybe i should look into learning more photoshop or something.

hey. it got cut off! oh well. spider girl, not quite finished. i'm still trying to figure out what to do with her cape thing. should all of it be black and white? or should i do the cape green and everything black and white? i don't know. i guess you'll just have to wait and see.
