"him heart" it's great fun when it's snowing outside and you own Dead Man's Chest^_^ i really love Tia Dalma. what a fascinating character. well no, i didn't quite capture her face exactly- it really is much more curvy than i managed but for a first shot it's not so bad. now i think i will go back and watch it again so i can capture Jack Sparrow on paper.

the first project; an orange. er, tangerine to be precise. termed 'the holy orange' by one of my painting instructors because at first i had lined it in light blue the entire way around and looked as though it were glowing so i shaded one side. yay for acrylics!

Miss Muffet part 1. not very Valentine-ish but it's the start to an idea i had been carrying around for a while. i've always loved fairy tales and Mother Goose so i would like to illustrate some nursery rhymes and eventually move up to short comics with Grimm's Fairy Tales. would anyone like to see this in color?

lucky, lucky i went to a sale at an art store and the Tria Colour Markers were marked down to $2.50 from $5.99
whee! i had this silly sketch in my sketchpad and decided to try them out. i got the idea for her clothing from a history of fashion book. let's see if i remember what century this is from... i think it was 1890.... or maybe early 1900's.

week one of painting. what could it be? fruit! ha, twenty points to anyone who can identify each piece. i had a hell of a time trying to cut the mango. the girl who had the coconut spent ten minutes bashing it against the floor. it was fun to watch. these are all crayon, actually. it was fun playing with crayon. next week is oil crayon. we went on a field trip to the local art store to get a lecture on proper brushes and paints. thus far i am enjoying my painting class. for some reason my scanner either does a really good job or a really crappy job. you can't see the colors as well in this scan; the green i used is almost non-existant.
